Our Story

Halligan Brothers Coffee was founded in 2026 by medically retired firefighter-paramedic Chris Signer and his wife, Virginia, who continues to serve as a firefighter-paramedic today.

In 2019, Chris suffered a life-threatening aortic dissection, a failing aortic valve, and kidney cancer. Despite his determination to return to the job he loved, his cardiologist made it clear he could no longer serve on the line. During his multiple surgeries, long recoveries, and the painful loss of his dream career, Chief Jeremy Young and the brotherhood at FFFD stood by Chris and his family, providing unwavering support when they needed it most.

Chris and Virginia credit their family's survival and resilience to that brotherhood. In gratitude, they founded Halligan Brothers Coffee to honor the firefighters who supported them, and to support the families of fallen firefighters across the nation.
